Empowering individuals to thrive in tech
In a world of constant innovation and technological advancement, encouraging diverse perspectives and fresh thinking is more important than ever. At Kollmorgen, we aim to introduce the tech world to all creative thinkers, with the goal of generating more interest and knowledge for those navigating the choices of their career paths.
In partnership with DataTjej, a non-profit organization for women and non-binary individuals interested in IT and Data, we conducted an event to bring together talented individuals with a passion for innovation and provide them with the tools and support they need to succeed with a tech career. But also to emphasize that software quality assurance is a crucial aspect of programming and a really fun field to work in!
" Many people think that testing is not a part of programming, and many workshops and lectures on programming also tend to focus only on technical languages. With our event, we wanted to show the attendees how we work with testing at Kollmorgen and its importance in programming, "says Pavithra Nagraj, Software Tester at Kollmorgen.
During the event, we also discussed various career paths and guided the attendees in developing the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful testers by sharing our own career stories.
" I think it's essential to get this kind of guidance because you can feel quite lost at the beginning of your career. There are many tools and different areas where you can develop your skills. It can be challenging to navigate through that world and prioritize the right skills that will be relevant in the future, " says Mihaela Grubii, SQA Engineer at Kollmorgen.
The event ended with a hands-on exercise, allowing the participants to interact with a practical task during a session where we tested a software tool while discussing good practices and common mistakes in reporting bugs and defects.
" This part of the event was very inspiring because we had the chance to give attendees feedback on how they can work in a professional environment. It was a great way to introduce them to the work field and empower them to take the next step towards a tech career," Mihaela adds.
We would like to thank DataTjej and everyone who attended, as well as Pavithra and Mihaela, for making this event a reality! We look forward to conducting more inspiring happenings like this and continuing our journey to create a more diverse tech industry.
