Get to know Cory and our AGV China Team!
BU Manager: Cory Qian has been with us for three years and spends his days overseeing AGV China branding, marketing, product localization, and integrated management. With over ten years of experience in the inverter and wind industry and a passion for economics and strategy management, he steers safely at the levers.
Cory and his team provide the most advanced, intelligent, and stable one-step solution for our customers. One thing he likes the most about his team, is that they always do their best in every situation.
“My team are independent and cooperate well cross-functionally. We support each other and have a well-designed coach plan for new people so that they can grow much faster. I also like that we mix Swedish and Chinese cultures. Although large cultural differences do exist, we are managing it well in our team, and you can tell AGV China is very loyal to the company.”
When Cory wakes up every morning, two questions always come to mind: How to put Kollmorgen’s values into practice in China and how close the team is to being the best place to work in the world. As China BU Manager, he is honored to lead his fantastic team.
“They are top-notch and the greatest asset to our company. Being the best place to work has been our goal. I always make sure we have a healthy work-life balance and try to be there if anything is upsetting them, as well as helping them pursue their goals and feel valued. It’s important for me – and my team – that everyone feels that they can develop and grow within the company.”
According to Cory, it is the combination of the different cultures that makes the success so noticeable.
“As a Swedish/US company, we take our core values – equality, diversity, openness, trust, and transparency – seriously. But we also have a fast-moving mentality. The combination of a caring and putting-the-employee-first culture with our productivity is what I think makes us stand out from our competitors.”
When starting his journey at Kollmorgen, the most unexpected thing was the company’s entry into the China Market in 1996. But with Cory’s interest in the economy, it’s not unexpected that he mentions just this.
“Back then, Kollmorgen took the lead on China industrial AGV’s transformation, triggering its fastest growth into the world’s largest market. AGV is a key component for industrial and commerce, which makes it highly relevant to our macro economy. The most exciting part, for now, is that we will continue to contribute to upgrading China’s industrial population, equipping them with know-how on high-end AGV technology to make China even more industrialized.”
However, work is not everything to Cory, even though you can tell that he is passionate about seeing us succeed. His team-first mindset is not only reflected during the job – but also at home.
“I love spending time with my family. I play a lot with my two kids and take advantage of the hybrid work situation we have in China right now.”
