Meet our summer intern!
Meet Alexander Lagerqvist, our fantastic intern who spent eight weeks with us this summer. Tasked with finding alternative ways to display data using the latest technology, Alexander gained hands-on experience by diving into our exciting world of AGVs and AMRs. Alexander is pursuing a degree in Data Economics at the University of Borås. Before the summer began, he was actively seeking an opportunity to improve his skills and apply his academic knowledge in a real-world setting. When he came across our summer internship advertisement, he was immediately intrigued by the project description, the exciting product, and the tech stack.
"When I discovered the job ad and learned more about Kollmorgen, I was fascinated by their product. I visited Kollmorgen's YouTube channel and website and was really impressed by their automation solution used in warehouses. This unique aspect made the opportunity even more appealing. The job description and tech stack also matched well with what I was studying, so it felt like a perfect fit," says Alexander.
During his internship, Alexander, together with our other summer intern Kevin Jönsson, took on an exciting challenge: exploring innovative ways to enhance a tool's user-friendliness and intuitiveness with cutting-edge technology.
"Our mission was to elevate the tool, making it smarter, more intuitive, and easier to use. It was an incredibly rewarding project that pushed my skills and gave me the chance to collaborate with amazing people, including my project partner Kevin. He's a rock star programmer, and working with him was a pleasure. We couldn't have achieved what we did without his expertise and creativity." According to Alexander, the highlight of his internship was the collaborative atmosphere and the opportunity to create a new product, showcase his work, and receive direct feedback in an agile work environment.
"A particularly rewarding experience was spending an entire week in a continuous cycle of development and feedback with the Product Owner. This iterative process established an effective workflow and boosted my confidence, allowing us to make steady progress until we reached our goal."
As his internship comes to a close, Alexander is heading back for his final year of school. We hope our paths will cross again in the near future. For those considering applying for a summer internship here at Kollmorgen, Alexander offers the following advice:
"Go ahead and apply! Don't worry about needing to be an expert – I'm proof that you don't need a strictly IT-focused education. Here, you'll find excellent, experienced, and friendly colleagues who will support and guide you throughout your internship."
