Meet us at DatE-IT & ZMART career fairs!
For several years now, we have attended the Chalmers career fairs DatE-IT & ZMART to connect with students and introduce them to our company – and it has proven to be a great way to meet new talents!
Last year, we had the pleasure of meeting Marcus Berg and Oscar Almström, who are now part of the Kollmorgen team. We asked them about their first impression of us as an employer and their journey from meeting us at the career fair to being a part of Kollmorgen. Scroll down to read their answers!
What was your first impression of Kollmorgen?
Marcus: I hadn't heard much about Kollmorgen before we met at the ZMART fair. But when we started talking, it sounded like we would be a good fit since I was looking for an opportunity to leverage my knowledge in control systems and automated trucks. I also found it interesting that the people at Kollmorgen handle everything from software to hardware. I thought it sounded inspiring to be part of the whole process, from an idea to a product and see the value it brings to the customers.
Oscar: I first met with Kollmorgen at the DatE-IT fair, and my first impression was that they were very welcoming and inclusive. At the time, I was looking for a summer internship where I could develop my skills in software development and heard that Kollmorgen had an open position that aligned well with my aspirations. I applied for the position and got it. Now I work part-time at Kollmorgen as a Software Engineer.
What did you think of Kollmorgen when you first joined us?
Marcus: I liked that there was a lot of flexibility here, both in my role and in the company in general. Today I work as an Application Engineer at Kollmorgen, and I really appreciate the fact that all of us are encouraged to develop, try different positions, and find something we are genuinely interested in. That's a nice way of showing that they want us to stay and grow here.
Oscar: I appreciated the open and welcoming environment. Everyone was really helpful, and it didn't feel weird to ask for help. It's nice to see that every employee here at Kollmorgen is passionate about what they do and interested in each other's work. It feels like we are one big team.
What do you appreciate most about being a part of Kollmorgen?
Marcus: I appreciate that we are given the freedom and space to explore, like Innovation Day, for example. It's a great way to push us to think outside the box, be creative, and make use of everyone's ideas. I think that creates a lot of value in the end.
Oscar: I think it's very inspiring to be part of something that people have been working on for several years and continue those projects together. There is a wide range of knowledge and expertise here at Kollmorgen and many people to learn from. I also think it's inspiring to be so close to the whole process. When you have this tight collaboration with every department, you can contribute and influence every part of the process. You are not just a cog in the machine, and that is something I appreciate about being a part of Kollmorgen.
What advice would you give others who are interested in joining us?
Marcus: You shouldn't worry about not having all the skills or knowledge yet. The most important is that you like working with new technology and have the drive to learn.
Oscar: I agree with Marcus. You don’t have to know everything about our products or processes before you join us. There are many experienced people to ask who are willing to help you out.
At Kollmorgen, we constantly seek new innovative minds to join our team, whether you are a recent graduate interested in taking the next career step or a student looking for your master's thesis project or summer internship.
