Navigating the frontiers of tech
Problem-solving, troubleshooting and working hands-on with exciting technology – that pretty much sums up the daily routine of our ART team Blue. This team, consisting of four software developers who all share the same strong passion for tech, is responsible for Kollmorgen's test framework, ensuring that all our products have undergone thorough control before they are shipped to our customers. One of the team members, Peter Broman, has been part of Kollmorgen since 1996.
"We are very much like a small family, working together and helping each other to achieve our common goals. The helpful and inclusive environment here at Kollmorgen is definitely a reason why I have stayed at the company for as long as I have," Peter shares.
Peter and his team work almost exclusively with backend development using, among other frameworks and programming languages, Python, Jenkins, MongoDB, Linux and Windows – the perfect environment for developers who love working at the cutting edge of technology, according to Peter.
"The best part of working in my team is having the time to dive deep into the exciting world of tech and turn one's theoretical competencies into reality. During the last couple of years, the ART team Blue has worked on a new project, a diagnostic system for our test framework, an idea that sprung from one of our recurring innovation days.
"The project started as an idea during our innovation days and quickly gained momentum. This diagnostic system serves as a health check for our test framework, designed to alert our team to any issues in advance. This proactive approach allows us to resolve problems before they affect our colleagues who create the test cases. It's fulfilling to see that our ideas can have a significant impact here at Kollmorgen."
In the day-to-day tasks of the ART team Blue, one the of exciting aspects is staying up to date with new technology, all while consistently enhancing the framework to provide ongoing support for new products. This ensures that our customers' products not only remain sustainable, but also benefit from the latest advancements in the field.
"In contrast to consumer electronics manufacturing, which will eventually stop working after a few years when you can't update the technology, we develop sustainable products for our customers so that they can expand with new automated guided vehicles that have new components that still work together with the old ones. This approach makes our work environment both complex and challenging."
